Multiple cars, tractor trailers involved in Highway 401 pileup

Jan. 29, 2014, Napanee, Ont. – Provincial police are advising drivers to avoid Highway 401 in the Napanee area after a pile-up involving multiple cars and tractor trailers this morning.

The eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway are closed between Highway 41 and Deseronto Road in the community east of Belleville.

Fire services and ambulance crews are currently at the scene.

There's no immediate word on any injuries.

A bus has been sent out to pick up and shelter stranded motorists.

Police say drivers who are on the highway in that area should slow down and follow signs for the detour route.
