New course teaches firefighters to deal with violent situations
Feb. 4, 2013 – JTFCanada has launched a new Emergency Medical Services Safety and Survival Training (EMS SST) course geared toward first responders. The course teaches participants to deal with violent situations within a given legal framework.
Firefighters and first responders, who are routinely found on scene during violent situations, will learn how to assess, recognize and deal with these situations. Course content also includes preparing oneself for the stress of a violent or traumatic scene, and how to deal with witness or patients suffering from a mental illness, or who may be intoxicated.
