New legislation sought regarding training deaths

A New Democrat MPP is to hold a news conference on May 1, 2018 to discuss her private member's bill designed to help firefighters and firefighter trainees.

Jennifer French's bill would implement key recommendations from a coroner's inquest jury following the deaths of Adam Brunt and Gary Kendall during unregulated private training procedures.

Brunt died in February of 2015 when he became trapped under ice in the Saugeen River near Hanover while taking part in a course.

Gary Kendall, a veteran volunteer firefighter, died five years earlier during an ice rescue course.
