Ottawa has a national standard for protective equipment for firefighters, police and paramedics that ensures first responders have the proper equipment in the event of a CBRN incident. The standard was announced Monday by Public Safety Minister Vic Toews during a mock hazardous situation at an unused Toronto subway station. The standard was developed by the Canadian General Standards Board and CSA Standards. More details are available here. Photo by John Hanley.
