Three dead, 30 missing after fire at Quebec seniors’ home
A fire at a 52-unit seniors' home in L'Isle-Verte, Que., early Thursday morning has killed three people and another 30 are missing. Most of the occupants would have required assistance to escape – many had mobility or cognitive challenges.

Transportation Safety Board issues rail recommendations
The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) has issued three recommendations to improve the transport of dangerous goods by rail. Those recommendations – tougher standards for Class 111 rail cars, better route-planning for trains carrying dangerous goods, and the implementation of emergency response assistance plans along routes where dangerous goods are transported – stem from the TSB's still-ongoing investigation into last year’s tragedy in Lac-Megantic, Que.

More than 100 firefighters battle Toronto blaze
A three-alarm fire in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood is believed to have started on the second storey of the building, though the cause of the fire is still under investigation. At its peak, more than 100 firefighters were on scene fighting the blaze.
