Jan. 2, 2013, Gimli, Man. – Two of nine people who escaped a house fire in Manitoba on New Year's Day remain in hospital.
RCMP in Gimli say several people needed medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.
But a 41-year-old man and his 18-year-old son needed further treatment in hospital where they are in stable condition.
Police say the home's occupants, who were between 12 and 41 years old, had already escaped when firefighters arrived.
The fire commissioner's office has attributed the blaze to careless cooking.
Police say the residence sustained extensive damage.
