No injuries after fire in Fredericton home

July 14, 2015, Fredericton - Officials say no one was hurt after fire broke out in a Fredericton home yesterday.

Platoon Captain Steve Fraser says they were called to a two-unit rental home on Gibson Street at around 1:40 in the afternoon after neighbours smelled smoke.

Crews discovered a kitchen fire in the lower level, and were able to extinguish it within five minutes.

Fraser says there is fire damage to the kitchen area and smoke damage throughout the home, but the house is in good shape structurally.

He says the duplex was vacant at the time and the owner had been there earlier in the day doing renovations.

Fraser says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
