Officials investigating fatal Shubenacadie house fire

Colchester District RCMP says firefighters were called to Heritage Lane at around 9 a.m. Monday morning.

The Mounties say a passerby noticed that the home was on fire and tried to get inside, but they were pushed back by flames and smoke.

Investigators later found human remains at the scene.

No other details were released.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate, and the province’s medical examiner is expected to conduct an autopsy.
