One killed, two injured in Calgary explosion

Sept. 13, 2011, Calgary – One person has been killed and two others injured in a fire and explosion in Calgary.

Police say the overnight blast happened in a wooded area of a southeast neighbourhood where three apparently homeless people had set up a camp.

Firefighters discovered the body in the wreckage after dousing the flames.

The two people who were sent to hospital have serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The police arson unit is investigating.
