Ontario premier expresses condolences

Aug. 11, 2008, Las Vegas, NV - Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty released the following statement regarding the death of Toronto Firefighter, Bob Leek: "I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Toronto firefighter Bob Leek, who passed away in the line of duty earlier today on the scene of an explosion and fire in north Toronto.

"On behalf of all Ontarians, I want to express my sincere condolences to
all those who knew Bob.

"Tonight, our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

"Bob Leek is a true Ontario hero. When others were being evacuated from a
dangerous situation, he rushed towards it so that lives could be saved.

"Today's tragedy is another reminder that every day, and in every
community of this province, firefighters and emergency workers show tremendous
courage and commitment in the service of the public.

our emergency workers who keep us safe."
