Ottawa apartment fire leaves man dead

Firefighters were called to the building (at 1330 Richmond Rd.) just after 1 a.m. after smoke was seen on the fifth floor.

Smoke was discovered coming from one unit and firefighters forced their way in and found a man without vital signs.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
