Ottawa to host workshop for fire instructors

May 10, 2016 - Fire instructors from Canada and around the world are gathering in Ottawa in late May to learn and share knowledge about firefighter exposure, fire ground strategies, command and control, e-learning options and much more.

Ottawa Fire Services, the Ottawa Professional Fire Fighters Association, the National Research Council of Canada and the Society of Fire Protection Engineers are sponsoring the International Fire Instructors Workshop FIRE2016 on May 30 to June 3 at Carleton University.

The theme of this year's workshop is fire literacy, with presentations focused on how developments in fire fighting, instruction, research and engineering can be adopted by front-line firefighters, officers and instructors.

The first International Fire Instructor Workshop was held in Sweden in 2008. The workshop was previously held in Ottawa in 2010.
