Ottawa to launch 24-hour shift pilot project
Firefighters in Ottawa will begin working 24-hour shifts in January, leaving an Ottawa Citizen columnist with raised eyebrows and a few questions.

Dec. 2, 2010, Ottawa – Starting
in January, Ottawa firefighters are converting to a 24-hour work day.
That means they will work two days a week for three weeks, then one in
the fourth week. The total number of hours worked remains the same but
the inconvenience of actually having to show up at the workplace is
