Quebec City crews rescue resident from four-alarm fire

Aug. 9, 2022, Quebec City – A four-alarm fire that broke out early Tuesday in a residential building the St-Roch district of Quebec City has seen 65 firefighters deployed, one trapped resident rescued by ladder truck and about 20 people forced out of their homes.

The fire started around 4 a.m. on the the roof of a three-storey residential building that is flanked by commercial outlets.

At least one person was overcome by smoke while another resident trapped on the roof was rescued by firefighters using a ladder truck.

Hydro-Québec has cut power to the building and some evacuees are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
