July 3, 2013, Tabusintac, N.B. – RCMP say an investigation has been unable to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed several fishing boats and damaged a wharf on New Brunswick's northeast coast.
The fire a month ago destroyed five boats that were moored at the wharf in Tabusintac.
Cpl. Stephane Blanchard says witnesses told police a fire on one boat quickly spread to the other four because of their close proximity and windy conditions.
Blanchard says because of the extent of the damage done to the first boat, which also sank, investigators were unable to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
Police were assisted in the investigation by New Brunswick's fire marshal's office.
