July 17, 2009 - On Jan. 1, 2009, NFPA 1901 came into effect to address rear reflectivity standards on new apparatus. Under the standard, at least 50 per cent of the rear-facing vertical surfaces, visible from the rear of the apparatus (excluding pump panel areas not covered by doors), must be equipped with retroreflective striping in a chevron pattern sloping downward and away from the centerline of the vehicle at a 45-degree angle. DIAMONDIAMONDS can help your department meet this standard on new or existing apparatus. For details visit www.thepatchman.ca or call 1-866-672-4033.
