Rising water poses flooding threat for Swan River, Man.

May 8, 2013, Swan River, Man. – The Manitoba community of Swan River has declared a local state of emergency and issued a flood warning for its namesake river.

Provincial officials say the river is expected to reach flood stage within a day.

Volunteers are sandbagging about 20 homes on Duncan Crescent.

The province says there is also a moderate risk of an ice pileup on Swan Lake near Swan River and on the south shores of Lake Winnipeg.
