Six people escape Truro apartment fire
Oct. 4, 2010, Truro, N.S. - Six adults are homeless after fire extensively damaged an old wood-frame apartment building in downtown Truro.

The fire began early Sunday and the residents escaped uninjured wearing just night clothes.
The Red Cross arranged emergency accommodation, meals and clothing purchases for a couple, and emergency clothing for three others who are staying for now with family or friends.
A sixth person declined help.
Three of the eight apartments in the building were vacant at the time.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
