Aug. 20, 2013, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, N.L. – Passengers aboard the ferry that serves coastal Labrador were told to assemble at fire stations Monday after a small blaze broke out as the ship was about to leave Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The province's Transport Department says the crew of the MV Northern Ranger quickly extinguished what it described as an electrical fire.
The department says the fire started as pre-departure checks were being conducted, but no other details were released.
No injuries were reported.
However, service was cancelled for Monday as arrangements were made for repairs.
