Feb. 21, 2013 – Fire-truck manufacturer Spartan has issued a recall of its MMP100 and RMP100 model platform aerial trucks.
According to a posting on the Government of Canada's recalls and alerts webpage, the inclinometer on certain trucks may malfunction, allowing the aerial platform to tilt excessively. This could cause the user to fall off the platform and sustain injury.
Specifically, the MMP100-model mid-mount 100-foot platform trucks, manufactured in 2008, and RMP100-model rear-mount 100-foot platform trucks, manufactured in 2005 and 2008, are the only apparatus models being recalled.
Departments with trucks affected by this recall can bring the vehicles to their dealers. Dealers will replace the inclinometer with an updated version.
