St. John’s house fire sends man to hospital

Fire units responded to the blaze around 12:15 a.m. today on Patrick Street.

Neighbours described seeing a ball of fire coming from the top floor of the three-storey building.

The home was attached to another on one side, but the fire didn't spread to the adjoining homes.

Fire officials say there was only one person home at the time.

The man was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
