Stubborn weekend blaze challenges Toronto crews
July 25, 2011, Toronto – A four-alarm blaze at a semi-detached house on Brunswick Ave. in Toronto on Saturday afternoon took crews more than four hours to extinguish. A combination of hot weather, the size of the fire and the depth of the building prompted the blaze to be upgraded to four-alarm, District Chief Stephan Powell of Toronto Fire Services told The Toronto Star. None of the residents of the house were injured in the blaze, but a firefighter was taken to hospital for a back injury. Photo by Thomas Luthi, A&T Photography. |
