Burlington, Ont. - A 14-year-old boy faces numerous charges after a grass fire in Burlington caused a power outage and hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.
April 20, 2015 By The Canadian Press
Halton Regional Police say a boy had been using a lighter to burn small items late Saturday afternoon, when the fire quickly spread and caused several wooden hydro poles to catch fire.
Police say the poles then fell over, causing a brief power outage in the area.
Several residents of a townhouse complex near the fire had to leave their homes until the blaze, which caused an estimated $300,000 in damages, was contained.
Police say the boy is charged with arson and mischief to property.
