Ted Bryan, fire chief in
Otonabee-South Monaghan, Ont., holds court on one of four prize holes
at Glen Abbey Monday. A hole in one here would have netted the winner
the Thumper back massager, an interesting choice. Photo by Laura King.

The back up at the 11th hole – the one on which John Daly famously put the ball in Sixteen Mile Creek during the Canadian Open, got longer and longer as fire chiefs and manufacturers stood on the tee and marvelled at the distance, then lost their shots in the rough. Photo by Laura King.
