Transportation Safety Board issues rail recommendations

Jan. 23, 2014, Ottawa – The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) has issued three recommendations to improve the transport of dangerous goods by rail. Those recommendations – tougher standards for Class 111 rail cars, better route-planning for trains carrying dangerous goods, and the implementation of emergency response assistance plans along routes where dangerous goods are transported – stem from the TSB's still-ongoing investigation into last year’s tragedy in Lac Megantic.
