Two men dead after Joliette apartment fire

Dec. 15, 2011, Joliette, Que. - Two men are dead following an apartment fire in a town north of Montreal.

Firefighters in Joliette, Que., were called to a four-unit building about 5:30 this morning.

Two men were found unconscious and transported to hospital, where they later died.

A provincial police spokesman says the building was already engulfed in flames when help arrived and was deemed a total loss.

Other tenants were being assisted by the Red Cross and by local volunteer firefighters.

Police say an investigation has been opened aimed at finding the causes of the blaze.
