July 31, 2012, Edmunston, N.B. – Two people were rescued from a burning apartment building in New Brunswick today by ladder from a second-storey balcony.

The Canadian Red Cross says the fire broke out at the four-unit building on Ferry Avenue in Edmundston just after midnight.

They say eight people escaped unharmed from the blaze, but the building is extensively damaged.

The Red Cross says officials believe the fire started on the outside of the building, but the cause is not yet known.
