Volunteer fire chief steps down

Oct. 16, 2012, Vulcan, Alta. - Stepping down from the fire department wasn’t easy for Vulcan’s former fire chief, who started volunteering in 1996. In the end, Stew Birch felt he couldn’t commit enough of his energy to being the fire chief — a title he held for about five years. The Vulcan Advocate reports.
