Water bomber helps fight forest fire near St. John’s

July 10, 2013, St. John's – Firefighters and a water bomber are battling a forest fire near residential areas in the west end of St. John's, N.L.

The blaze snarled traffic during the evening commute as drivers slowed to gaze at billowing smoke and flames.

There were no reports of injuries or property damage.

A water bomber was called in to help fight the blaze as it burned close to homes near Old Pennywell Road.
