May 24, 2013, Lindale, Alta. – About 200 people who were forced to flee a wildfire west of Edmonton are being allowed to return home thanks to cool, rainy weather and the hard work of fire crews.
Residents of Lindale were ordered to leave on Wednesday when flames threatened the area.
County officials say the fire is now being held and people who return home will be on two-hour evacuation notice.
The one-hour evacuation notice for people in the nearby Birchwood area has been lifted.
Environment Canada says a slow moving weather system is bringing rain to much of Western Alberta.
However, fire bans remain in effect in many areas.
