Wildfire prompts Monte Lake evacuation

July 27, 2017, Monte Lake, B.C. - A wildfire near Monte Lake, B.C., is threatening homes and has forced an evacuation order. The evacuation order was issued for approximately 60 homes to the northeast of Monte Lake Wednesday evening. The fire, which was estimated at 100 hectares in size as of 7:30 p.m. PT, is about 1.5 kilometres northeast of the Monte Lake community, near Martin Mountain. Multiple air tankers and 31 firefighters with the BC Wildfire Service are on scene.
