Winnipeg city council approves agreement

May 1, 2017, Winnipeg - A new four-year deal for Winnipeg firefighters was approved by city council last Wednesday. The firefighters and paramedics' collective agreement expired Dec. 24, 2016. Rather than going to arbitration scheduled for this fall, the two sides came up with the deal, which sees the firefighters get wage increases of 1.8 per cent on Dec. 24 of this year, and two per cent increases the following three years. The Winnipeg Free Press reports. | READ MORE
