Woman arrested after Montreal blaze

Firefighters were called to the home on Gustave-Bleau St. near Honoré-Beaugrand métro around 1:15 a.m., according to reports. The woman, who suffers from a mental illness, was reported to have been playing with matches that ignited the furniture.

She and her husband had been unable to extinguish the fire that eventually caused about $100,000 worth of damage.

The woman was arrested. Investigators will decide later Friday whether to press charges against her.
