Deputy fire chief Kevin Steinborn says that when crews arrived at the burning home in North Battleford on Friday, smoke was pouring out of it.
He says police told them they may have heard cries coming from inside.
Steinborn says crews rescued a 36-year-old woman, and then went back into the home and found a three-year-old boy.
Another child — a four-year-old — had climbed through a window prior to fire crews getting there.

The woman later died, while the three-year-old was in critical condition over the weekend in hospital in Saskatoon.
