Woman’s body found at fire scene

Durham police say a number of neighbours attempted to get inside, but were turned back due to smoke and flames.

Responding officers also attempted to get inside the apartment, but
could not make it all the way due to heavy smoke and extreme heat.

Police say the Uxbridge Fire Department extinguished the fire and discovered the dead woman inside.

The fire marshal's office is continuing its investigation to determine how the fire started.

Police investigators say they do not believe the death is suspicious in nature.
