The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Enderby Memorial Arena.

Tom DeSorcy, the communications director with the Fire Chiefs Association of B.C. and media liaison for the Enderby and District Fire Department, said in a statement that emergency vehicles and personnel will muster at the Enderby and District Chamber of Commerce at 10:30 a.m. before proceeding to the arena.

Botkin, 29, was a captain and training officer for the 24-member volunteer department, had previously worked for the log-home company, and was a newlywed who had been married in October.

An autopsy was ordered.

“Given the circumstances of the death and the fact that we had somebody in a work capacity – a volunteer firefighter – we want to make sure the cause of death is accurately determined and documented,” regional coroner Mark Coleman told AM1150 radio.
