March 18, 2013, Innisfil, Ont. – A series of explosions met police and
firefighters as they raced to a fully engulfed warehouse fire in the
Innisfil area south of Barrie on Monday.
Black smoke – which police described as "very black and toxic" – could
be seen for several kilometres around the 2nd Line of Innisfil, west of
the No. 10 Sideroad.
Police say seven or eight propane tanks exploded in quick succession as fire crews fought the fire.
It was brought under control around 2 p.m.
There were no injuries.
Police had closed a section of 2nd Line as firefighters fought the blaze
and drivers were cautioned to be extra careful due to the thick smoke.
