Mandatory sprinklers among proposed building code changes

Jan. 24, 2013, Sarnia, Ont. – Ontario is looking for feedback on proposed fire and building code changes, aimed to improve safety in long-term care and retirement homes. The changes include enhanced fire inspections and staff training, having fire officials check off on fire safety plans every year, and phasing in mandatory sprinklers over the next five years for any home with more than four occupants.
