June 5, 2024, Ontario — Representatives from the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC) met with Members of Provincial Parliament on May 29 for the annual Fire and Life Safety Advocacy Day.

Chiefs sat down with a number of government representatives including Solicitor General Michael Kerzner and Premier Doug Ford to discuss critical issues affecting fire and life safety.

Major points of discussion included cancer prevention and early detection, structures with a single means of egress and the advocacy for stricter building codes, and MTO billing for no service calls.

“Advocacy Day is an effective and efficient tool in developing and furthering the relationship between the fire service and Members of Provincial Parliament from all political parties,” said Fire Chief Terry Jones in a press release. “It provides a unique opportunity for us to come together as one voice to share our vision of fire and life safety.”
