June 10, 2013, Peterborough, Ont. – A man is dead and another person is seriously injured after police say a vehicle hit a deer, then hit another vehicle before catching fire on a county road near Peterborough.

Provincial police say the incident happened just after 5 a.m. Monday on County Road 6 (between the 1st and 2nd Lines of Douro.)

Police say the first vehicle struck a deer, then collided head-on with a second vehicle and caught fire, trapping the lone occupant.

Witnesses attempted to free the trapped man but police say they were not able to get him out of the burning vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
