REGINA – A sprinkler did its job and kept a fire at Regina's Pasqua hospital from growing any bigger.

Fire crews were called to the hospital Monday afternoon after reports of a fire in a basement storage room.

When they got there, they found a sprinkler head had been activated and had put out most of the fire.

The firefighters extinguished the rest, and worked to clear out the smoke.

The room was filled with boxes of files.

Damage costs and cause is not yet known.

Fire spokesman Grant Nicurity said the fire captain said if not for the sprinkler, it could have spread and become a lot worse.
