The sixth installment of the EDI Celebration Series will be broadcast live on October 22 at 1:00 pm EST. For October’s event, Monique Belair, Director of Emergency Services and Fire Chief for Belleville, Ontario, will share her career experiences and recommendations for increasing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the fire service.

The EDI Celebration Series is a program of the CAFC in collaboration with Fire Fighting in Canada through a generous grant from the Motorola Solutions Foundation.

Monique Belair, Director of Emergency Services and Fire Chief

Belleville, Ontario’s Director of Emergency Services and Fire Chief Monique Belair is a skilled and articulate Fire Service Leader with over 30 years of knowledge and experience planning, developing and implementing programs and processes in the fire service and field of emergency management.

Monique previously served as the Deputy Fire Chief for both Oakville Fire Services and St. Catharines Fire and Emergency Services in the role of Deputy for Training, Fire Prevention, Public Education and Communications Divisions. Chief Belair has had the privilege to represent the Office of the Fire Marshal and to serve the communities of Ontario, from the farthest northern rural communities to large urban city centres both in the role of Fire Protection Specialist and Regional Manager for the North West area of the province. These vast experiences of working with such a broad range of communities has provided Monique with unique opportunities to observe the diversity of the fire service, identify unique risks specific to a community and contribute to the enhancement of fire protection services.
