Aug. 21, 2013, Moncton, N.B. – Technicians have been called in to determine what caused an ammonia leak at a New Brunswick bottling plant.

The Pepsi plant in Moncton was evacuated Wednesday, but Moncton fire chief Eric Arsenault says the leak was isolated to a refrigeration unit outside the building.

He says no one in the neighbourhood or within the plant was in any immediate danger.

However, emergency crews closed most of Loftus Street to traffic and kept onlookers well back as a precaution.

Arsenault says he's unsure how much gas escaped.
