Belleville firefighters headed to arbitration

Oct. 28, 2013, Belleville, Ont. - An arbitrator will hash out a lingering collective agreement issue between the city, career firefighters and area volunteer crews. Following failed attempts to reach a mediated arrangement, Belleville's career firefighters and their rural counterparts have veered into an arbitrated settlement to determine who's in charge at scenes in jurisdictions where volunteer crews respond.
