Cape Breton municipalities end spat over fire service to Point Tupper

Mar. 23, 2021, Port Hawkesbury, N.S. – It’s a done deal: The Town of Port Hawkesbury and the Municipality of the County of Richmond have reached a 10-year agreement for fire protection in Point Tupper. The deal, which takes effect April 1, will see Richmond County pay Port Hawkesbury a $60,000-per-year fee that includes an incremental yearly escalation throughout the 10 years of the agreement.
