Corner Brook never applied for funding: province

July 10, 2015, Corner Brook, N.L. - Justice and Public Safety Minister Darin King says he is puzzled as to why the provincial government is being criticized for not helping Corner Brook buy a new fire truck. Last week, Corner Brook Mayor Charles Pender announced that the City of Corner Brook would pay the entire cost of buying a new pumper truck for its fire department because there is no provincial government funding to be had.
