Peterborough police say they got a 911 call on Thursday afternoon from a concerned bystander reporting two people drifting down the river.

Police, firefighters and paramedics responded, and fire crews noticed the men moving quickly downstream.

The fire service deployed an inflatable boat and two firefighters in immersion suits pulled the men from the floe, and brought them to shore.

Police say it appears it was an intentional act, and the men, both in their late teens and not from the Peterborough area, were warned about their dangerous actions.
