April 2, 2013, Brandon, Man. – A firefighter has reportedly been removed from his job in Brandon, Man., for allegedly calling in sick while vacationing in another country.
Brandon officials aren't saying much.
City manager Scott Hildebrand says he can't comment on specific personnel issues.
But he did say that sicktime in all departments is being investigated.
Wade Ritchie is president of the Brandon Firefighter and Paramedic Association.
He has said the union is also concerned by the high rate of sick days called in by some members.
"If issues or concerns arise with concerns to sick time, they will be investigated appropriately, including all departments and managers," Hildebrand said.
