Provincial police say eight of the 10 cars that derailed on the Canadian National Railway at James Bay Junction contain liquefied propane gas.

They say an initial aerial survey of the scene shows no apparent leaks but firefighters are still checking the affected cars.

Police say there are no injuries, but as a precaution they evacuated the area within a one-kilometre radius.

A local school on nearby Rankin Lake Road was evacuated, along with Oastler Provincial Park.
