Fires displace families in Nova Scotia
Eastern Passage, N.S. - A family of six has been forced from their home after a fire extensively damaged their bungalow outside Halifax.
The Canadian Red Cross says the fire at the home on Hines Road in Eastern Passage started at about 2 a.m.
There were no injuries among a woman, her daughter and partner and three grandchildren, ages five to 13, who were in the home at the time.
Volunteers with the Red Cross are helping with emergency lodging and food for the family.
The agency says another fire displaced three people at a two-storey apartment complex in Yarmouth, N.S.
It says one man jumped from an upstairs window and alerted neighbours, who used a ladder to help a young couple escape at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
